Backus, MN

Backus is a tiny Minnesota town of 291 people in the heart of lake country, about 25 miles north of Brainerd on Highway 371. Most visitors pass through heading to area lakes and resorts, though some make the 130-mile drive from the Twin Cities for fishing and recreation. The town's claim to fame is operating one of the state's smallest municipal liquor stores in a converted garage.
