Awendaw, SC

Awendaw is a small coastal community about 25 miles northeast of Charleston via US Highway 17. This unincorporated area sits between the Francis Marion National Forest and the Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by salt marshes and maritime forests. The subtropical climate brings hot summers and mild winters. The Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge visitor center here provides access to over 66,000 acres protecting loggerhead sea turtles and 270+ bird species.
