Avalon, GA

Avalon is a tiny Georgia mountain town of about 300 people in Stephens County, reached via US 123 from Toccoa 8 miles southeast or a two-hour drive north from Atlanta through Commerce. The volunteer fire department, operating since 1952, runs out of a brick building that serves as the town's informal community center.
