Uppermill

Uppermill nestles in the Saddleworth valley on Greater Manchester's edge, where the Pennines begin their rise toward Yorkshire. The A670 runs through the village, connecting to Oldham and Rochdale, whilst the nearby M62 provides motorway access via Junction 22. Popular routes include scenic drives to neighboring Saddleworth villages like Dobcross and Delph, plus the moorland crossing to Holmfirth via the A635. The village hosts the annual Rushcart Festival each August, where decorated carts topped with rushes are carried through the streets in a centuries-old tradition.
