Upper Radford lies in Bath and North East Somerset's former coalfield country, accessible via the A39 between Bath and Bristol. The A367 from Bath through Peasedown St. John provides the main approach, whilst the A37 offers north-south connections. Local routes include the B3355 linking surrounding villages like Paulton and Timsbury. Bristol Airport sits 25 kilometres southwest. The settlement occupies part of the historic Somerset coalfield, where Kilmersdon Colliery, the area's last deep mine, ceased operations in 1973.
