Whitmire, SC

Whitmire is a small town of about 1,300 people in western South Carolina's Newberry County, 40 miles northwest of Columbia. Take I-26 west to Exit 52, then Highway 176 north for 8 miles. From Greenville, Highway 56 west connects to Highway 176 south in about an hour. The town's 1883 railroad depot, now a community center, preserves artifacts from its cotton mill days.
