Whitegate sits where Lough Derg meets the River Shannon in Clare, a handy spot for accessing Ireland's largest inland waterway. The R352 connects east to Portumna in Galway, while drivers from Dublin take the M7 to Nenagh then follow the R495 north, about 150 kilometres total. Cork visitors go via Limerick on the N20, then toward Nenagh before turning north on regional roads.
