About Wass

Wass is a small North Yorkshire village nestled beneath the Hambleton Hills, perfectly positioned between the Dales and North York Moors. Most visitors arrive via the A170 from Thirsk or through Easingwold from York - about 25km of pleasant countryside driving. The village sits just a kilometre from the atmospheric ruins of Byland Abbey and offers excellent access to both moorland walks and market towns. Wass Bank, rising steeply from the village toward the moors, is legendary among cyclists as one of Yorkshire's most challenging climbs.
