Velddrif

Velddrif lies where the Berg River hits the West Coast, right next to Laaiplek across the water. Take the R27 from Cape Town, about 145 km, or come via the R399 through Piketberg if you're heading down from the N7. Locals nip through to Dwarskersbos or Jacobsbaai, while long-haul visitors roll in from as far as Gauteng and KZN. There are a few fast chargers around, and Langebaanweg Airport is 30 km off. Don't leave without trying the bokkoms, dried fish strung up along the river.
