Upper Town perches on Derbyshire's limestone plateau above the Derwent Valley, surrounded by classic Peak District scenery. Reach it via the A6 through Matlock, or take the A38 from the M1 Junction 28 then the A615 west. The B5056 from Cromford offers a particularly scenic approach through former lead mining country.
