Ulverston is a pleasant Lake District market town easily reached via the A590 from Junction 36 of the M6. The town sits between the fells and Morecambe Bay, offering milder weather than the central Lakes whilst maintaining easy access to fell walking. The town's most distinctive feature is the Hoad Monument, a 100-foot lighthouse replica crowning the hill above.
