About Tyneham

Tyneham lies within Dorset's Lulworth Ranges, reached via the A351 from Wareham then the B3070 towards Lulworth Cove. This evacuated wartime village sits on the Purbeck Peninsula, accessible only when the military ranges are open to the public. The village was abandoned in 1943 for D-Day training and remains a perfectly preserved 1940s time capsule, complete with the original school blackboard showing a lesson from December 1943.
