About Tramore

Tramore sits 13 kilometres south of Waterford along the R675, taking its name from Trá Mhór meaning "great strand." The town of 11,000 faces a sweeping bay with nearly 5 kilometres of sandy beach that draws surfers year-round. Most visitors arrive via the R675 from Waterford, which connects to the N25 for Dublin and Cork. The seafront features an amusement park and promenade, while the town centre clusters around pubs and shops. The three cast-iron Metal Man pillars stand guard at the bay's western end, erected in 1823 after the troopship Sea Horse wrecked here in 1816.
