Townsend, MT

Townsend lies in Montana's Broadwater Valley about 30 miles southeast of Helena on US Highway 12, positioned between the Big Belt and Elkhorn Mountains along the Missouri River. Most visitors arrive via Helena or take US 287 north from Three Forks after leaving I-90. The town serves as a gateway to Canyon Ferry Lake recreation areas, and the 1889 Broadwater County Courthouse remains one of Montana's oldest continuously operating courthouses.
