Syre

Syre occupies a remote corner of Sutherland in the Strath Naver valley, reached via the A836 from Lairg or B871 from Bettyhill along single-track Highland roads. The settlement sits amongst moorland where the River Naver carved its path through landscapes shaped by the Highland Clearances. One public EV charger serves the wider area, though Thurso or Lairg offer more reliable charging before the journey into this sparsely populated valley. The ruins of Syre Church stand as a stone memorial to the community that once flourished here before 1814.
