3About Strade
Strade is a small County Mayo town on the N5, about 8 kilometres from Castlebar and 200 kilometres west of Dublin. The main route connects Dublin to Westport, with local roads serving the surrounding countryside. Most traffic runs between Strade and Castlebar for shopping and services. The town sits near the Castlebar River, which flows toward Lough Conn. The highlight is the 13th-century Dominican friary ruins, founded around 1252, which once housed a medieval school that educated clergy from across Ireland.
