3About Spanish Point
Spanish Point perches on Clare's Atlantic coast where cliffs drop to sandy beaches along the Wild Atlantic Way. The village sits on a headland jutting into the ocean with grand views across the Shannon Estuary mouth. You'll find it on the R482 coastal road, about 8 kilometers south of Milltown Malbay and 15 kilometers from Lahinch. Most arrive via the N67 from Ennis, turning west at Milltown Malbay. The area combines beaches with rocky outcrops and golf courses, including championship links at Doonbeg and Lahinch nearby. The village gets its name from Spanish Armada ships that wrecked here in 1588.
