About South Walls

South Walls occupies the southern tip of Hoy in Orkney, reached via ferry from Mainland Orkney then the B9047 south for 8km. This small community overlooks Scapa Flow, the historic naval anchorage where the German fleet was scuttled in 1919. The Hoy Heritage Centre, built in a former naval communications station, displays artifacts recovered from those sunken warships.
