Smerclate

Smerclate occupies the southern tip of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, positioned strategically where the island narrows before the causeway to Eriskay. Most visitors arrive via ferry from Oban to Barra, then drive north on the A865, though mainland ferries to Lochmaddy or Lochboisdale offer alternatives. The settlement provides access to pristine Atlantic beaches where you can walk for miles on white sand without encountering another person.
