Salterton lies in the Avon valley between Salisbury and Amesbury, reached via the A345 from either direction or the A303 trunk road. The area serves the cluster of Woodford villages and sees regular traffic to MoD Boscombe Down. The medieval stone bridge carrying the main road across the River Avon remains the focal point of this small Wiltshire community.
