Rylah lies in Derbyshire's former mining country, reached via the A632 from Bolsover or connecting to the M1 at Junction 29 near Chesterfield. The A616 offers north-south links to Sheffield and Nottingham, whilst over 100 EV charging points serve the district. Former colliery winding towers still punctuate the skyline as navigation landmarks.
