About Roughlee

Roughlee is a small Lancashire village beneath Pendle Hill, reached via the M65 and A682 from Manchester or the A59 from Yorkshire. The A682 forms the main route through this part of the Forest of Bowland, whilst local roads like the B6247 connect neighbouring villages such as Barley and Newchurch. The village is known as the supposed birthplace of Alice Nutter, one of the infamous Pendle witches, whose family manor ruins remain visible today.
