Rock River, WY

Rock River is a small railroad town of 219 people in southeastern Wyoming's high plains. Located just off Interstate 80 between Laramie and Rawlins, it's accessible via Exit 221 then a short drive north on local roads. US Highway 30 runs through town following the historic Lincoln Highway. The community sits at 6,900 feet elevation with the Medicine Bow Mountains to the west, experiencing harsh winters and mild summers with frequent winds. Its defining landmark is the massive Union Pacific coal loading facility where mile-long trains stop to load Wyoming coal.
