Rathkeale sits on the N21 about 30 kilometres southwest of Limerick city, making it a handy stop for drivers heading between Cork and Kerry's tourist spots like the Ring of Kerry or Dingle Peninsula. What sets Rathkeale apart is its massive horse fair each July, when Irish Travellers from across Europe descend on the town to trade horses in a tradition that's been going strong for over 400 years.
