Purcell is a small farming community in southwestern Missouri, about 15 miles northeast of Joplin along Highway 96. The area serves as a waypoint between Kansas City, Tulsa, and Springfield for long-distance travelers, while locals commute to jobs in nearby Joplin and Carthage.
