Portree is Skye's main town and the island's administrative hub, perched around a sheltered harbour on the east coast. You'll reach it via the A87 across Skye Bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh, about 2.5 hours from Inverness through some of Scotland's finest Highland scenery.
