About Portmeirion

Portmeirion perches on a wooded peninsula overlooking Tremadog Bay, about 5km from Porthmadog via the A487. Sir Clough Williams-Ellis created this Italianate fantasy village between 1925-1976, complete with colorful buildings, exotic gardens, and Mediterranean architecture. The sheltered location allows palm trees and subtropical plants to flourish alongside native Welsh species. Fans of cult TV series "The Prisoner" will recognise the village as the show's mysterious setting, with the original penny-farthing bicycle still on display.
