Pine Bluffs sits right on I-80 at the Wyoming-Nebraska border, serving as a convenient stop for cross-country travelers. The town is 40 miles east of Cheyenne via I-80, with US Highway 30 running parallel through the community. Located at over 5,000 feet elevation on the high plains, it experiences typical prairie weather with strong winds and temperature extremes. The 30-foot Trail Ruts Monument marks where pioneer wagon wheels permanently carved grooves into the local sandstone.
