Pill lies along the A369 between Bristol and Portishead, roughly 10 kilometres from Bristol city centre via the Portway. Most visitors arrive from M5 Junction 19, following signs toward Bristol. The village sits in the Avon Gorge with limestone cliffs rising to the east and serves as a useful route between the motorway and western Bristol. Pill retains one of the few remaining tidal swimming pools along the Bristol Channel.
