Pecan Park, NM

Pecan Park is a small desert community of 575 people located 10 miles northeast of Deming via US Highway 180. The town sits at 4,300 feet elevation where summer highs exceed 90°F and winter nights drop below freezing. Long-distance travelers use Interstate 10 through Deming to connect with El Paso (60 miles) or Las Cruces, while locals commute daily on US-180 for services in Deming. The community's name comes from pecan groves that once grew here before water table changes eliminated most of the original trees.
