Oliver's Battery is a residential area on Winchester's southern edge, built around the site of a Civil War artillery position from the 1640s siege. Access is via the A3090 Romsey Road from Winchester centre or Junction 11 of the M3. The elevated location offers good links to Southampton (25km) and London via the motorway network, whilst Winchester station provides rail connections. Remnants of the original Parliamentary earthworks still shape the local street layout.
