3About Newport
Newport perches where the River Nevern meets Cardigan Bay on Pembrokeshire's rugged north coast. The A487 brings you here from Haverfordwest (45 minutes south) or Cardigan (30 minutes north), whilst the scenic route via Fishguard takes 20 minutes through rolling countryside. The town serves as an excellent base for exploring both the Preseli Hills and the dramatic coastal paths of the national park, with the 11th-century castle ruins standing guard over the tidal estuary where medieval wool merchants once traded with Ireland.
