Nelspoort

Nelspoort is a small Karoo stop on the R61, about 45km from Beaufort West, mostly used by long-haul drivers cutting between Cape Town, Joburg, and the Northern Cape rather than locals popping in and out. Expect flat scrubland, koppies, and big skies, with fuel and EV charging best sorted in Beaufort West beforehand. The standout fact here: Nelspoort's hospital started life as a TB sanatorium in the early 1900s, built to make the most of that famous dry Karoo air.
