3About Nairn
Nairn perches on Scotland's northeast coast where the River Nairn meets the Moray Firth, just 25 kilometres from Inverness via the A96. This seaside town earned the nickname "Brighton of the North" for its unusually sunny weather and sandy beaches. The A96 provides the main route from Inverness and continues northeast toward Aberdeen, whilst the A939 heads south into the Cairngorms. The town splits into two distinct areas: the original Fishertown with its harbour and fishing cottages, and the Victorian new town with its championship golf links that have hosted professional tournaments since 1887.
