Monk Moors

Monk Moors lies in remote west Cumbria along the A595 coastal route between Barrow and Carlisle. Most visitors arrive from the M6 via Egremont, about 25km northeast, whilst local connections serve nearby villages like The Nook and Hycemoor through narrow country lanes. The settlement sits on low coastal plain between the Irish Sea and Lake District fells, surrounded by traditional farms and stone walls where sheep graze salt marshes. The name recalls medieval monastic lands once held by Furness Abbey for wool production.
