Mier

Mier lies deep in the Kalahari, Northern Cape, near the Namibia border and the southern entrance to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Get there via the R31 from Upington through Askham, a proper trek with fuel stops few and far between, so tank up before you go. Visitors from as far as Darling and Laingsburg make the trip for the red dunes and wildlife. No EV charging out here. Fun fact: the surrounding land was handed back to the Khomani San and Mier communities in a 1999 land claim deal that shaped the park you see today.
