Maam Cross is Connemara's main crossroads where the R336 meets the R345, making it the natural stopping point between Galway city and the western coast. You'll reach it via the N59 west from Galway through Oughterard, or south from Westport through Joyce Country past the loughs. The R345 brings you up from Roundstone with grand views of the Twelve Bens.
