Lower Pertwood

Lower Pertwood lies in southwest Wiltshire's chalk downland, reached via the A303 junction near Mere or through the Deverill valley from Warminster on the B390. The village sits 2km from Higher Pertwood among a cluster of settlements including Chicklade and the various Deverill villages, all connected by narrow country lanes. St. Mary's Church houses a remarkable 13th-century stone rood screen, one of the few surviving examples in England.
