Low Field forms part of York's western suburbs along the A1036 Tadcaster Road, just 3km from the city centre. Most visitors use the A64 bypass, connecting efficiently to the M1 near Leeds. The area sits in the Vale of York's flat terrain, with over 80 EV charging points nearby. Low Field's name derives from the medieval farming strips that once occupied these fertile, low-lying fields beside the Ouse floodplain.
