Leadgate, County Durham

Leadgate is a former County Durham mining village on the A692, about 20 minutes west of Newcastle via the A1. The main route runs through Consett, whilst the B6278 offers a prettier alternative through Shotley Bridge. With over 200 EV chargers nearby and decent links to the A68, it's handy for Scottish trips. The old railway cutting, once used for coal trains, now makes a lovely walk lined with wild roses.
