Pop into Matjiesfontein just 27 km down the road for the old steam train and Victorian buildings, or push on toward Wellington, Rawsonville or Franschhoek if you're heading for the Boland. There's one fast EV charger in town. Worth knowing: the 1981 flash flood here killed 104 people, one of SA's worst ever, and the town still shows the old flood lines.
