About Jaywick

Jaywick lies on the Essex coast, three kilometres south of Clacton-on-Sea via the A133 from the A12. This former 1930s holiday camp, built on reclaimed marshland, remains largely composed of converted railway carriages and prefab chalets. The exposed coastal setting brings bracing North Sea winds and occasional storm flooding. It's Britain's most unusual residential area, where temporary seaside accommodation became permanent homes.
