Invergarry

Invergarry sits at a key Highland junction where the A87 meets the Great Glen, making it a natural waystation for drivers heading to Skye or exploring the western Highlands. The village lies beside Loch Garry, with Fort Augustus 12 kilometres north and Fort William about 50 kilometres south. Long-distance routes from the central belt pass through here en route to the islands, whilst local traffic serves nearby settlements. The name derives from Gaelic meaning "mouth of the rough water," referring to the dramatic rapids where the River Garry tumbles into Loch Oich.
