About Imber

Imber is a ghost village on Salisbury Plain, evacuated in 1943 and now within an active military training area. Access is strictly limited to around 50 public open days per year, reached via the A36 from Warminster then across designated routes on the plain. The village was abandoned when residents were given just 47 days' notice to leave for D-Day preparations.
