Iken

Iken is a tiny Suffolk village beside the River Alde, reached via the A12 and A1094 through Snape. Most visitors come from Ipswich (45 minutes) or make the two-hour drive from London. The village sits in water meadows that flood each winter, creating an ever-changing landscape of reeds and pasture. St. Botolph's Chapel ruins mark where England's first monastery was allegedly founded in the 7th century.
