Heanor occupies a central position in Derbyshire's former mining heartland, easily reached via the A608 from Nottingham or Derby, or from Junction 26 of the M1. The town sits where the Erewash Valley meets rolling countryside, with over 250 EV charging points serving the area. Heanor's Market Place maintains its twice-weekly market tradition, running continuously since receiving its royal charter in 1251.
