Happy, TX

Happy sits along US Highway 87 in the Texas Panhandle, about 45 miles south of Amarillo. This farming town of 650 people occupies flat High Plains country at 3,400 feet elevation, surrounded by cotton fields and grain sorghum. Most visitors arrive via US 87 from Amarillo or Lubbock, with State Highway 86 providing east-west connections. The town got its cheerful name in 1891 when optimistic settlers chose it to reflect their hopes for the new community.
