Gwernydd

Gwernydd lies in Snowdonia's Ogwen Valley, forming part of the Bethesda area between the Carneddau peaks and the coast. The A5 provides main access from Bangor (8 miles) or via the A4086 through Llanberis Pass from the south, with the A55 linking to wider Wales. The massive terraced walls of Penrhyn Quarry, once the world's largest slate quarry, dominate the eastern skyline with their distinctive purple-gray stone amphitheater.
