Great Longstone sits in the Peak District along the A6020 between Bakewell and Buxton. Reach it via the A6 from either Manchester or Sheffield, turning at Ashford in the Water. The village makes an excellent base for exploring Monsal Head's famous viaduct and the surrounding limestone dales. The White Lion pub retains its original 18th-century coaching inn mounting block.
