Granite Shoals, TX

Granite Shoals hugs Lake Lyndon B. Johnson in the Texas Hill Country, about 50 miles northwest of Austin via Highway 1431. This lakeside community sits where granite outcroppings meet the Colorado River, creating the natural shoals that inspired its name. The town centers around lake recreation and maintains one of Texas's few remaining active granite quarries, where the same pink granite used in the State Capitol is still extracted today.
